EngineeringUK was formed in 2002 as The Engineering and Technology Board, a charity established to promote engineers, engineering and technology by raising public awareness. Our ambition is to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and increase the talent pipeline into engineering.

 Our strategy for 2018-23 has three core elements that build on our work to date. Over the next 5 years we aim to:

Inform and inspire the next generation of engineers, working with key partners to inspire a diverse range of young people and their influencers, with the exciting career opportunities in modern engineering. We will highlight its value to society, as well as revealing the full range of academic and vocational career pathways into engineering.

Become the recognised, trusted voice and thought leader by government, employers and professional institutions on the engineering labour market, talent pipeline and best approaches to engage young people.

Broaden and sustain the impact of engagement activity by improving employer-led engineering focused STEM engagement activity, working with partners to help simplify the STEM landscape for schools, and ensuring that underrepresented and hard to reach groups are included.

Our work is data driven and we use the latest evidence to shape the work we do. Our comprehensive research and evaluation programme provides up-to-date insight into STEM Skills in the UK, perceptions of engineers and engineering and the impact of interventions designed to inspire the next generation. We share our research freely.
