Green Shift Educational Services Ltd & Science Buddies Ltd
We feel very proud to be part of Bring It On and to stand side by side with all other participating STEM focussed businesses.
We are an educational services provider which specialises in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subject areas. We aim to ignite the spark of our local youth into these subject areas and possibly consider them as a future career. We try to reach as many children as possible and be as inclusive and diverse as we can. We work with schools, home schooled groups, parents, local businesses, community organisations etc… across the whole north east of England. We deliver fun and engaging science workshops, national curriculum based STEM workshops, staff CPD – science, after school clubs, weekend and holiday activities, science teaching/supply/cover and we deliver science parties.
We have worked with children aged 3 (in local nurseries) through to secondary school leavers alongside the National Citizens Service. We have worked in schools throughout Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham. Since setting up our company two and a half years ago we have worked with over 10,000 children.
We also attend STEM careers events and have delivered some sessions on this ourselves. We are building good, strong relationships with a lot of local schools and STEM focused businesses. We hope to be a bridge between the two.
We aim to enrich and engage people into these subject areas and make people aware of the huge range of opportunities there are within the sector.
We are also currently undergoing training to be the north east regional representatives for Science Dome UK (based in Bournemouth). This will enable us to deliver an interactive and immersive science learning experience to students across the whole of the north east (starting from key stage 1 – key stage 3).
We work with volunteers looking to develop their own personal skills and experience and some take part to develop their own STEM knowledge. These are quite often trainee teachers or university undergraduates. These often bring new and fresh ideas along to sessions helping to keep us up to date with national curriculum and current research.
We receive regular outstanding feedback and we are looking to develop and grow our services over the upcoming years.
Bring it on encompasses all things STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) as do we. We feel that we need to work hand in hand with this and are very aware that we need to collaborate and work as a full STEM community to achieve this one goal we are all setting out to achieve – to raise awareness, aspirations and uptake of STEM based professions and careers.
Bring it on is a fantastic, high profile event based in the north east of England and its reputation is outstanding. We feel very proud to be part of this and to stand side by side with all other participating STEM focussed businesses.
We think that participating in this event is the perfect vehicle for us to be able to showcase the important work that we do to our desired target audience. People do not know what is available to support them if they are not explicitly made aware of it.
STEM is something we are very passionate about as is the north east of England – we want all schools, parents, community groups to know we exist and to use us to help raise aspirations, attainment and engagement in these subjects.
We want our future generations to be at the forefront of these professions and new technologies.
